Johannesburg – A man found himself in trouble afterhe battled to climb down an electricity pylon in Bloemfontein on Thursday morning.

Paramedics found the man stranded 40 metres above theground, said

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring.

The medics had been called to the scene by thepolice.

"Free State EMS College and ER24 paramedics usedspecialised rescue equipment to make their way to the patient. Once paramedicsreached the patient, he was placed in a harness and returned safely to theground," Mering said.

The man received some medical treatment on scene beforebeing transported to hospital.

"He was in a bit of a state so we just provided himwith emotional support and we assessed his vital signs before taking him to thehospital," said Meiring,

It was unclear how he had landed up the pylon.
