Parliament - "Goodbye Mr President" seemed to be a recurring theme by opposition parties during the State of the Nation Address debate on Tuesday.

EFF leader Julius Malema told Zuma "you are

not fit to lead, bye bye", and UDM leader Bantu Holomisa "you must leave with dignity".

Zuma's ability to lead the country and his perceived errors in judgement were aired during the first half of Tuesday's sitting.

DA leader Mmusi Maimane said Zuma was not an honourable man and not fit to hold the position of president.

"If he was an honourable man, he would do the honourable thing and resign."

NFP MP Maliyakhe Shelembe said Zuma was not a president the country deserved and said "Zuma must fall".

Holomisa asked Zuma to allow the country to bid him farewell with dignity.

The EFF, DA, UDM and NFP accused African National Congress MPs of allowing themselves to be used by the president.

"Nizi instruments nje zokusetyenziswa [you are instruments to be used]," Holomisa said in Xhosa after National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete told him his time was up.

Maimane said he knew there were good people in the ANC who did an excellent job.

"Every honourable member on this side of the House knows the damage that this man is doing to this country, and their party. But not one of you has the guts to speak out against what is happening. It is, quite simply, a failure of leadership. You should be ashamed."
